New Chalenges, better capabilities
The Charge d´affaires Hassan Al-Sheikh attended an accompanying conferrence of the NATO defence Ministers meeting -„New Chalenges, Better Capabilities“ that took place in the historical Building of The National Council in Bratislava and was organized by the Slovak Atlantic Commission. Among the key speakers ,the recently appointed NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has delivered one of his first public speeches on the topic „Vision of Nato in a changing security environment“. Apart from him, the US Assistant Secretary of Defence Alexander Wershbow, the Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajčák, the Defence Minister Jaroslav Baška together with others defence minsiters contributed with their speeches. The NATO defence Ministers meeting was the biggest NATO event that took place in Slovakia.

Ramadan dinner
Mr. Hassan Al-Sheikh, the charge d´affaires of the Republic of Iraq attended a soiree organized by the Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák for all the representatives of Muslim countries accredited to Slovakia on the occasion of the Muslim holy month Ramadan.

IOM roundtable
The Charge d´affaires Mr. Hassan Al-Sheikh attended the roundtable organized by IOM (International Organization for Migration). The aim of the session was to approximate the core activities of IOM to the representatives of the embassies. Beside other activities, IOM provide assisted voluntary return to unsuccessful asylum seekers with close cooperation with the Alien Boarder police and embassies. Several Iraqi asylum seekers have already used this service.

Dissertation defense
The Charge d´affaires Mr. Hassan Al-Sheikh attended the dissertation thesis defense of the Iraqi student MSc. A.Othman Hussein who successfully graduated his PHD studies in the Faculty of Engineering of Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra. The student analyzed an interesting topic: Using of crop biomass for energy purpose. The Charge d´affaires expressed his pleasure at the achievements of Iraqi students studying in Slovakia.

Meeting with the State Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affaires – Ms. Oľga Algayerová
The Charge d´Affaires Mr. Hassan Al-Sheikh met the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires. They discussed the possibilities of humanitarian aid after recent bomb attacks in Baghdad. Apart from that they discussed the current issues of bilateral economic cooperation.

The Chrage d´affaires Mr. Hassan Al-Sheikh attended the graduation ceremony of three Iraqi students graduated the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies of The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.

Meeting with the State Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affaires – Ms. Oľga Algayerová
The Charge d´Affaires Mr. Hassan Al-Sheikh met the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the possibilities of further development of bilateral economic relations. The emphasis was put on the preparation of bilateral agreement. Ministry expressed its support on cooperation in the fields of business, education, health care and agriculture.
